Waterleaf is Closing on May 31st

Thank you for a fantastic three years! As of May 31st, Waterleaf is now closed for business. I wanted to thank everyone who purchased baked goods from me, liked my posts, shared my business, and so much more! Your support got me through three crazy years, and I could not have done it without you all.

Waterleaf Baking Co. started in September 2019. I graduated from Ohio State University with a BA in German in May of 2019 and was in the process of submitting graduate school applications and traveling. I started Waterleaf Baking Co. that September after deciding to make a little extra cash in my spare time. Little did I know that the world would shut down several months later and Waterleaf Baking Co. would be the only job I had left. It was a tough year, but by 2021 I had a good number of customers and was able to join the Dunkirk Farmer's Market that summer. It was a very busy summer. Busy enough that I decided to put everything I could into the business and try to build it up as much as possible.

By 2022, I realized that while this business was doing wonderfully, I was not interested in continuing. I felt that it was time for a change, and decided to apply to college once again. When I was accepted into UMBC, I knew that I would have to stop baking cookies and prioritize school and my next career. So I decided to take the summer off to visit some friends and travel to some awesome places before starting my Chemistry degree at UMBC in the fall.

I've learned a lot these past few years. When I graduated in 2019, I never thought I would be a business owner or make decorated sugar cookies. I am proud of what I was able to accomplish and am grateful for everyone who supported me along the way. This isn't goodbye, since I am sure I will see some of you around! But for now, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who bought my baked goods, liked my posts, or shared my business with their friends and family. I also wanted to thank my parents for letting me run a business out of their house and take over their basement with my cookie supplies.

For all of your next cookie orders, I have listed some other great cookie makers below! Please be as wonderful and supportive of them as you were of me.
